Terms & Conditions

  1. Dog Health: The animal is fit, healthy, and free of any contagious diseases. I (the owner) understand that I must advise Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets of any medical, physical or emotional issues, allergies, sensitivities, or pre-existing conditions prior to every groom. This includes, but is not limited to, prior surgery, hip or joint issues, warts, moles, ear infections or skin problems. If I fail to do so, I agree to hold harmless, and will indemnify Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets from all, damages, claims, and demands whatsoever, in law and from loss arising from any condition resulting from the service being completed.

  2. Owner Health: I (the owner) confirm that all members of my household have been free from COVID 19 symptoms for the past 14 days. Where COVID 19 has been present within the household I confirm that the dog has been washed since symptoms have ceased and attending this appointment.

  3. Vaccinations: I (the owner) confirm that my dog’s vaccinations are up to date. Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets will not groom any dogs that are not up-to-date with their vaccinations. Should we discover that your dog has a potentially contagious condition (fleas, lice, mange, etc) we will immediately inform you and ask you to collect your dog.  A charge of £30 will be applied to disinfect the salon.

  4. De-Matting & Shaving: A matted coat can cause numerous health conditions including itching, irritation, and skin infections. Heavy matting can trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing fungus or bacteria to grow causing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. If your pet cannot be humanely de-matted, Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets reserve the right to clip the mats out of the coat using a clipping blade that will minimise pain to your dog. Where possible we will discuss this with the owner in advance, however if unable to reach you via contact details provided we will progress regardless.  Although the coat may be shorter than you prefer, it will ensure your pet is comfortable and free from pain.  We will also provide advice about how best to groom out mats before they become an issue again.

In the event of any dog needing a shave down/clip down, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process, as well as uncovering nicks, cuts or other potential problems. The owner agrees that Happy 'n' Healthy Pets and/or its staff will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems "uncovered" by clipping off a badly matted, neglected coat. This could include, but is not limited to the following: itchiness, skin redness, irritations or abrasions however caused, post groom furunculosis, pyoderma - superficial or deep and/or pyotraumatic dermatitis

No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2007
A shave-down will incur an additional £10 fee, the only exception being a dog brought in by a recognised Rescue Centre Staff member.

  5. Behavioural Issues: The owner (or other responsible person) agrees to inform Happy 'n' Healthy Pets prior to grooming if the dog has bitten or has aggressive tendencies. Happy 'n' Healthy Pets reserves the right to muzzle your dog or ask you to muzzle your own dog or to refuse to groom it if it represents a danger to our staff or other dogs in the salon. Unless this has been discussed and agreed beforehand we reserve the right to turn your dog away without grooming it - however the full starting price for your groom will still be charged because at that point we cannot fill your appointment.

For aggressive/anxious dogs with whom all other options have been exhausted, Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets. may suggest sedatives for grooming appointments. Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets does not administer or prescribe sedatives. I (the owner) understand that I must obtain a prescription from my vet and administer the sedatives at home as instructed. I understand that Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets cannot be held accountable for any negative reactions my dog may have to sedatives.

  6. Ear Plucking & Anal Glad Expression: The British Veterinary Association has advised that both ear plucking and anal gland expression should be carried out by a veterinary surgeon. This service is therefore not provided as part of the grooming service. I agree that should I ask Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets  to pluck the ears of my dog, I agree to hold harmless, and will indemnify Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets from all damages, claims, and demands whatsoever, in law and from loss arising from any condition resulting from this service being completed.

  7. Cancellations: If I need to cancel my appointment, I will give Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets 24 hours-notice. Failure to do so will incur a 100% cancellation of booking fee.

  8. Pre-existing conditions: I agree to hold harmless, and will indemnify Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets from all damages, claims, and demands whatsoever, in law and from loss arising from any known or unknown pre-existing condition of my pet(s). I authorise Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets to act on my behalf in the event emergency vet services, care-taking and/or transportation are necessary and I agree to pay all costs.

  9. Photography: I agree to allow Happy ‘n’ Healthy Pets to take photos of my dog for its records and for marketing purposes.
